Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Thermimmo Fort and VIPs (Vacuum Insulation Panels)?

Vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) for buildings are 2 to 4 times more expensive than Thermimmo and offer lower technical performance. At equal thickness:

  • Thermimmo’s thermal resistance is 2 to 3 times higher

  • Thermal longevity is up to 8 times greater

  • CO₂ emissions are significantly lower

Thermimmo is also more robust: even slight damage to a VIP’s envelope causes a total loss of insulation, whereas Thermimmo does not lose its insulating capacity. Performance may decrease slightly but remains effective for about 10 years. To completely cancel Thermimmo’s insulating effect, the panel would need to be drilled deeply.

What is the difference between Thermimmo Fort and standard insulators?

Standard insulators (natural, bio‑based, or petroleum‑based) all have a thermal conductivity between 0.032 and 0.05 W/m·K and a thermal longevity of 15 to 30 years. Their CO₂ emissions vary: high for petroleum‑based insulators, low in the short term for bio‑based ones. However, over the long term (80–100 years), their carbon footprint increases due to replacement work: removal, recycling, manufacturing, and installation of new insulation.

Thermimmo’s thermal longevity is 80 to 300 years, with the lowest long‑term CO₂ emissions of all insulators. Thermimmo is up to 20 times more efficient than standard insulators (thermal conductivity as low as 0.0022 W/m·K). Thus, with only 1.3 cm, it exceeds DPE Class A, simplifies installation, increases property value, and avoids major losses of floor area and volume.

The long‑term cost is the lowest. In the short term, the total installed cost is comparable to other insulators: Thermimmo panels are in the upper price range at purchase, but they significantly reduce labour and construction costs.

What surface can I insulate with Thermimmo?

Thermimmo can be used to insulate all surfaces, from the inside or outside: walls, ceilings, roofs, attics, lofts, flat roofs, floors. The installation method varies depending on the application.

Can I install the insulation myself?

Yes. It is very simple—almost like a puzzle. You only need to:

  • plan the layout of the surface to be insulated (or send us your data for assistance; AI can also help)

  • purchase the panels

  • read the installation guide

  • choose the method and install the panels

The key point is to handle the panels carefully to avoid damaging them.

Can you perform the installation?

Yes. You can order the panels with installation per m². We operate directly in Paris and Île‑de‑France. For other regions, we offer artisans trained in our method, or you may choose your own (we recommend a short training session with us).

The installation cost with panels is approximately €220/m² excl. VAT, excluding complications. See our completed projects.

What are the conditions for professionals?

We offer special conditions depending on your activity. Please contact us.

How can I insulate areas not covered by the panels?

After layout planning, a small area may remain uncovered by Thermimmo Fort super‑insulators. You can insulate it with Thermimmo Flex. We also prepare custom Thermimmo Fort panels for these specific zones. If you wish to replace the Thermimmo Flex part later with custom Thermimmo Fort, please let us know. Depending on your installation, Thermimmo Flex can be applied in 2 or 3 layers of 1 cm each.

What is the warranty for Thermimmo panels?

Most insulators are guaranteed 2 years. Thermimmo is guaranteed 6 years.

Are Thermimmo Fort panels heavy? Do they load the structure?

No. They are very lightweight:

  • a 600 × 600 × 13 mm panel weighs 1.27 kg

  • a 1200 × 600 × 13 mm panel weighs about 2.5 kg

Can I use Thermimmo panels for everything: walls, roofs, floors?

Yes.

How do I choose the size and quantity of panels?

Larger panels are more efficient. Prioritize them during layout planning and quantity calculation. The layout plan allows you to order the correct sizes and quantities.

Can I return unused Thermimmo Fort and Thermimmo Flex panels for a refund?

Yes, if they are in good condition and properly packaged (we recommend keeping the original boxes). After receipt and inspection, you will be refunded.

How do I protect Thermimmo Fort?

Thermimmo Fort is sensitive to puncture and perforation. It must be handled carefully and installed on a smooth surface. You may use fiberglass wall fabric, anti‑cut fabric, or boards (wood, plastic, metal, etc.). Depending on your project, you can apply various finishing and protective layers (plasterboard, wood, marble, etc.), or simply use fiberglass fabric and paint without additional protection.

During use, if a panel is damaged, it is easy and inexpensive to replace.

How do I fix Thermimmo panels?

  • Simple fixings: Adhesive plaster, glues or hook‑and‑loop fasteners (Velcro). You can attach one part of the Velcro to the wall (with nails, for example) and glue the other part to the Thermimmo panel. Velcro strips 8 to 15 cm wide and 20 to 50 cm long are recommended. They allow easy panel replacement if needed and ensure an air gap.

  • Reinforced fixings: plastic screws 3 mm in diameter, placed at the junction of four panels.

Can you do the layout planning?

Yes. Send us the dimensions of the surfaces to be insulated, with the exact position, shape, and size of elements that must not be covered, as well as any constraints affecting installation. Please include photos.

The layout planning cost is €100 excl. VAT, refunded for any order above €3,000 (conditional free offer).

I started the installation and I have a problem — can I get advice?

Yes. We can advise you by email or videoconference to solve your issue. This service is free for any order above €1,000, or €25 per hour otherwise.
